Ambassador’s Welcome Message

I am delighted to welcome you to the website of the Permanent Mission of Botswana to the United Nations Office and other International Organisations in Lausanne, Switzerland. It is important to note that the Permanent Mission is also accredited to Austria, Greece, Switzerland and Turkey, as well as to all the International Organisations in Vienna, Austria.

The website gives an overview of Botswana’s history and culture and information about trade and the economy, as well as various opportunities and benefits of doing business in Botswana. This is our effort to provide access to information on Botswana by our valued customers, stakeholders and the general public, in pursuit of our Mission to promote the interests of Botswana in our area of coverage.  It also gives the portfolio of the Mission.

Botswana is the world’s largest producer by value of gem-quality diamonds. She is also known for her macro-economic stability, prudent management of resources, notable economic growth, as well as good governance and respect for the rule of law. Botswana offers investment opportunities in our wide range of sectors and is blessed with a variety of raw materials. The country’s young and vibrant economy makes it a destination of choice.

Our country is home to the world’s largest inland delta, the legendary Okavango Delta, the undulating sand dunes of the Kalahari Desert and hosts an unimaginable variety of wild life and fauna. It is our pleasant duty to let you know about these important places of interest of international acclaim and above all, the friendship and hospitality of the beautiful as well as peace-loving people of Botswana.

Naturally, being the first website of the Mission, we will certainly count on your support and feedback to help us improve it further so that it could meet your interests and needs. This is your website. Together we can make it what it should be, so that citizens of Botswana and the world as a whole can, at the click of a mouse, access Botswana.
